Apparently the value of the carpet had gone up and down while in His possession, and even when He sold it at a lower price, He gave the person who had give it to Him to sell the amount of the highest value it had attained while in His possession ... integrity incarnate ... not quite the same theme, but the above story made me think of this one ...
